A boy among six girls all of whom giving birth at a tender age, Pastor Gerald Muhumuza grew up babysitting and nurturing my sisters’ babies. It’s a seed grown year after year into my love and care for, and yearning to cuddle more and more children at whatever cost. Any moment away from the world of children be them biological, spiritual or not, my life is an empty space. I grew up thinking I could accomplish my charm for children by studying pediatric medicine at a Medical School at Makerere University. Unluckily, I was admitted Food Science. Studying a course not anyhow interconnected with what I hold so dear, generated even more emptiness in my heart. It’s this vacuum that I seek to fill up through the childcare and kindergarten project.
Besides, Nalumunye is basically a residential area for the middle-class. But being a newly opened up and just beginning to grow area, it has practically no childcare and pre-school services, more so good quality. Parents drive long distances, always packed with early morning and late evening traffic to get such services. To the dear ones, it means traffic jam stresses, late sleeping and too early wake ups, accumulative fatigues and sleep. These are generally often unobserved factors, which would yet in the long run weigh into mental and physical health hazards at so early an age.
Having no at all or limited childcare and kindergarten choices in Nalumunye may be less of a bother! Given my love and care for children, the new realities of life are the greatest heartache to me-the rampant child neglect, abuse as well as modern world economic pressures-working that crowds out parents’ time for fitting child care, love, health, safety and early childhood development. Hired maids/babysitters who have been in recent modern times relied on for providing care and protection in the absence of parents working away from home, are now another agitating story of their own. Perhaps a facility such as Kingdom Kids Academy-Childcare and Kindergarten will diminish some of the childcare, upbringing, early childhood schooling and development concerns at least in its locality.
To be the leading provider of quality childcare and early childhood education services in Uganda.
To provide a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for young children that will foster their physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development.
